I love the phrase Red Letter Media coined when it comes to Disney: Passive progressive. Disney is a big corporation that doesn’t care at all about any social issues. They will pay lip service to them if they think it’ll make them money. Any time you see Disney, or any corporation for that matter, acknowledge LGBTQ rights or BLM or anything else, they’ve only done so after weighing the risk and determining that they will somehow make a buck. I’m sure there are people in the company who are principled, but the company itself exists only to generate a profit. It’s like what they did with Star Wars a few years back – “The first gay kiss in Star Wars!” Was it Poe and Finn? No, even though the audience were all hoping for that. The kiss was two women out of focus in the background of a scene.
