  1. Really sucks that YouTube wouldn’t let you play any of the songs (I swear they love to make things inconvenient for smaller creators). But this was a nicely varied list. Enjoyed seeing the Young Dubliners and The Magnetic Fields get some love. I need to check out more of Jill Sobule and Roge Valley’s work. “Hallelujah” is a beautiful work, though I have to admit I’m more fond of Rufus Wainwright’s cover (similarly I prefer Judy Collins’ rendition of “Suzanne”; Leonard Cohen was a masterful songwriter but I just feel other singers carried his words better). Seeing “Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth” rank so high made me smile – it’s one of the greatest songs of the 90s.
