Nightmare Before Christmas is easily a classic movie. I was one of those kids who saw it at a super young age and it kickstarted my interest in a lot of the darker stuff later on in my life (as well as the start of the odd coincidence of Tim Burton’s work being everywhere around me as a kid). Plus it got me interested in Stop Motion Animation and the works of Harryhausen.
This is a really great gateway movie that can get kids interested in horror or darker material. The movie is never scary and always light and easy for kids to understand, but it isn’t a big jump for kids to go from Nightmare Before Christmas to Hammer horror films or the works of Poe.
