New Nightmare is definitely a predecessor to meta horror movies that would come along later on in the genre (especially with Scream). Also, Heather Langenkamp is not only married to a special effects artist, she also works with makeup and effects in lots of movies like Dead Silence, Cabin in the Woods and the Dawn of the Dead remake.
That is so wild that they made the movie so close to her real life.
