Greetings, Manic Fans.  Les here to rant a bit about world events and the importance of keeping our priorities better sorted.  I just read a headline article about how General Mills is going to remove artificial ingredients from their food products.  The article went into details about how much research and development is being done for their breakfast cereals, and their goal to be completely natural by 1016.

(and before any of you jump on me for getting this from FOX NEWS, lighten up…I’ll bet I can find frivolous fluffy ineffectually insignificant bullshit on CNN, MSNBC or the other news sources too, but I digress…).
While reading it, it hit me.  Why is this the story that got a headline and promo photo in the front page?
I mean….Really? This is newsworthy? We’ve got maniacs shooting up churches, terrorists beheading the innocent, morally bankrupt politicians slinging mud, unsupervised children surfing the ‘net’ amidst predators, porn and con artists, weather patterns changing for the worse…..and Lucky Charms looking for a new marshmallow formula is globally important? Where did our priorities go, people?  I look at this and fondly remember when Lucky Charms getting a new marshmallow type was big news…to CHILDREN!…and the adults bought the cereal to keep their kids happy.
WHY ARE “ADULTS” SO CONCERNED WITH CHEMICALS THAT HAVE BEEN HARMLESS FOR 40 YEARS THAT THEY NEED TO PUT PRESSURE ON A COMPANY TO CHANGE IT’S INGREDIENTS, MAKING THE CHOICES FOR THE REST OF THE WORLD THAT’S ENJOYED THE PRODUCT AS WAS.
THIS…..IS…..GLOBALLY….NEWSWORTHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?(insert your own Nostalgia Critic Bat Credit Card freakout here)…here’s mine…

Ok, I don’t know if I meant to comment on the overdoing of ingredient controls to further take away our choices, or if I was going for the “Who gives a shit about this?” angle.  All I know is the whole article gave me a “What the fuck is this and why is it so important they listed it with the real globally relevant items?”
