Greetings, Manic Fans. Les here to theorize about a future “Avengers” film. The ship I’m working on finally got some updated films and I finally saw “Captain America: The Winter Soldierâ€(Seriously great film, too BTW). Upon the 2nd viewing, I spotted 2 things that made me ponder what could happen.
Warning: Spoilers ahead if you didn’t watch this film yet….
When Hydra activates the Zola Algorithm, and the battle carriers start targeting victims, in a quick flash, the screen showing New York City briefly shows the guns have targeted the Fantastic 4 in the Baxter Building. I’m guessing, because it happened so quickly that in the targeting screens it probably also targeted Spider Man and the X-Men(Gotta use freeze frame when I get the DVD to see if I’m right about that…).  In another scene at the very end of the credits, it shows a Hydra group that evaded capture.  They have Loki’s Scepter from the first “Avengers” film, and 2 mutants in captivity(Not completely sure which ones…one has superhuman speed and the other is a telekinetic). They seem to be using the Scepter to gain control over the mutants kind of like how Loki used it to turn Hawkeye and Dr. Selvig into his personal “flying monkeys.”
Now, here’s my theory. Like the first Avengers film setting a precedent bringing 4 film franchises together for a super blockbuster, I think Disney Corporation may set another precedent by bringing Marvel Studios together with Rival studios,  Sony Films and Fox Films to bring about a joint project to join “The Avengers†with “The X-Men,†“Spider-Man†and “The Fantastic 4†in what will surely be the most awesome nerdgasm of a film ever made. There are precedents in the comic books for such a coming together of several hero franchises in the Marvel Universe(The Infinity Gauntlet, Secret War and Civil War, for instance).
The odds against this happening are, of course, pretty long. However, if this could happen, Disney would be the corporation to see it come to fruition, and I’m hoping to see this come to be. What are your thoughts on this possibility, my friends? I’d love to hear what you think. Peace.
