The most well know tradition in the sport of hockey today is the growing of the playoff beard. But when you look at pictures of the the Stanley Cup presentation during the Original Six years, and well into the NHL’s expansion era, every captain accepting the Cup is absent even the slightest stubble. So when exactly did this hairy tradition take root?
