With the success of Disneyland Fun the Sing Along series deviated even more from the formula with volume 8. Volume 8 is a Christmas special and features only Christmas songs with the footage being Disney related and seasonal of course. This is the black sheep of the series because this was an older special that may even predate the Mr. Owl saga and was transplanted here and is always skipped during the normal Sing Along Song previews after the credits of particular volumes. Still this is part of the Mr. Owl saga and is given a numeral. Jiminy Cricket is our full time host and there is no title song and even the Sing Along opening as well as the theme song is removed for Jiminy’s introductory number. The segues borrow Volume 7’s “songbook transitions†and continues until the end with We Wish You a Merry Christmas in the credits. I’m going to deviate from my formula as well because really there’s nothing to say. The songs are all the classic Christmas songs we all know. I do like the exclusive remixes of some songs like Sleigh Ride and Winter Wonderland, but that’s all there is to say. I’m not a big fan of the real religious songs like Joy to the World or Silent Night mainly because I’m not Christian, but it can be nice to others. It’s a tradition to watch this at Christmastime and I always enjoy it. But over all and in the grand scheme of the series this volume is solid and that’s it. There’s nothing else to say really.
