The classic Finnish war novel about a group of colorful people fighting against Soviet Union for various of reasons got readapted 30 years after the iconized first film adaptation. With the guy behind The Earth Is a Sinful Song at the director’s chair this film takes more realistic and documentaric approach that has both advantages and disadvantages. Was also Finland’s submission for Best Foregin Language Film Oscar race.
