It’s mostly that Japan finds like high school students getting work or otherwise as a “distraction” and leads them away from studying and finding a good job, some results have said that if a student is not focusing on school they might as well be a criminal or something like that. Along with other rules they have, it’s not a taboo but more of youth law, I guess.

Yeah, my taste in romance manga reads at least don’t fall well and kind of become a require taste I get that. A few that I at least get some enjoyment is like Ouran High School Host Club, Beast Master, Beck, Bitter Virgin, Cat’s Eye, Junjou Romantica, Sotsugyousei, Endou-kun No Kansetsu Nikki, After School Nightmare, Running On Empty, Slow Starter (ichikawa Kei), Hide in the Flowers, Cigarettes & Chocolate, Cotton, Blue, Is – Otoko Demo Onna Demo Nai Sei, and Ningyo Ouji*.

That is just my sum of how I think romance works in manga form. I didn’t list them all but these were the ones that worked with what they had, and a few really nailed the idea. I get where you were coming from though of how romance is used for a fantasy kind of thing, and not how it could be used. This was a really grand of listen here, and if Old Boy plans of doing solo looks in to either of them, I would like to hear more about Ciguatera. Good work overall.

Appreciate that Tk – i will let Old Boy know – if feel pretty much the same on the points he made here

From your list there i know High School Host Club & Beck and really enjoy both these and they did some great things when dealing with romance in an interesting way – although i saw the animes and not the manga

As always thanks for checking out Tk!
