1992 – THE WOODY ALLEN / MIA FARROW CONTROVERSY TALK #WOODYALLENRETRO

Ever since i started the Woody Allen Retrospective i have got quite a bit of negative feedback for giving spotlight to this so called pedophile and sleezy film director

The truth of the matter is there is ALOT of misinformation and accusation around the situation and blind factless judgement that is more often glossed over and not looked into

I myself, even being a fan of Woody Allen am honestly more than disappointed with how he handled quite a bit of this situation and i honestly didn’t think i could skirt around this massive personal controversy about the man and just focus on his movies at this point in his career as we cover his movies… this is impossible to just avoid

It’s a long one but i’m glad we did this at this point before we went on with the filmography #letskeepitreal

I’ve been enjoying this series, and this is a great addition. I’ve written a Stop the Hate for Woody Allen about this very subject. I have all of his movies, I’m a big fan, but that’s not what this is about. This is about this terrible idea that is becoming more and more popular: If a woman says they were raped or molested, you automatically believe them. That is a very dangerous idea.

Now I understand that rape and molestation are incredibly traumatic things to have happen to you, and most women are not lying about these incidents. However, there is a percentage that does. I myself have known multiple women who have lied about being raped, either for attention or because they were mentally ill. Just because Dylan says Woody did this to her doesn’t mean he did. Also, just because Dylan says it happened doesn’t mean she is lying either. It may well have happened, or maybe she has false memories implanted by Mia (there is a good argument to be made there), or maybe she was molested by Mia’s brother, who is a convicted child molestor. The point is, Woody was never charged with a crime, nor was he found guilty. More over, his argument about this not happening is a sound one.

For me there is one overwhelming truth that has to be looked at when it comes to this controversy: Bill Cosby has nearly 60 women accusing him or rape because molestors and rapists don’t just do it once and call it quits. No other women have come forward and said they were molested by Woody. No man just says, “I think I’ll dabble in molesting a 6 year old, try it once, and never do it again.” In the 20 years since this controversy, not ONE SINGLE WOMAN has come out and accused Woody of molesting her. Either he is a master at hiding the truth or the man is not a pedophile.

I would urge those quick to judge Woody to actually examine this case. We’ll never be 100% sure of what happened that day, only Woody really knows for sure. However, when you look at the evidence and listen to Woody’s arument, it really doesn’t seem like the man did it. Even Dylan’s brother, Moses, has come out and said Mia is the abusive one and that she told the kids to all lie about Woody.

This is not an open and closed case. Thank goodness it didn’t impact Woody’s career and the man has continued to make movies every single year, attracting the top talent in the business. Mia tried to destroy him. She failed.

Yeah we are right there with you – the timing of the accusation, no follow up incidents on Woodys end – its more than obvious to us its a revenge thing.. and again i can understand Mia’s rage at the time considering the cheating but still it is / was wrong and alot of casual people will not look into the details and just see him married to his so called step daughter and follow a simple train of thought… which is sad but again not surprising in some ways

It was a hard podcast to do to be honest and a long edit but i think we tried to be fair – i am still a Woody fan, not happy with some of his ways but certainly not a pedo – and yeah her other brother came out and said Mia clearly planted memories and bad thoughts about Woody after the scandal so again more than enough proof to see this is a big revenge situation

I remember a year or two ago Susan Sarandon said she would never work with Woody Allen because he was a child molestor. Personally, I thought he should have sued her. I think he should sue every single person who calls him that. He’s never been convicted, and was accused one time under very sketchy circumstances. As for him hooking up with such a young woman – welcome to show business! The age difference between Woody and Son-Yi is nothing compared to that of half the aging rock stars and their wives.

ah yeah i saw that clip you mentioned ait ms Sarandon i think it was at a festival q&a – i actually like woodys ignore everybody attitude and get on with the work – it is somewhat unusual but really does cement the fact he doesn’t care what anyone else thinks including mia

In fact i read a very surprising interview stating Woody wanted to cast Mia even AFTER the madness and his team / family convinced him otherwise… again, Woody is a special kind of guy to let these things roll of his back to an extent as i would be very angry and bitter to say the least

It will be interesting to see what people think of Woody once he is dead and gone, look at his strong filmography and then look at the FACTS
